The Online Role Playing Game is an extremely addictive form ofon the webgaming that’s played by millions. The Story lines and prolonged game experience makes it as popular with adults as with kids. Online Role Playing Game, or sometimes as Computer Role Playing Games, are a wide range of onlinebased games that requires the construction of a character or hero figure based specific characteristics decided by you in order interact with a game story within a multi-player environment. Online Role Playing Game is a constantly evolving genre of games that require you to interact with other players in the virtual world as a single character or within groups or guilds.

As the game progresses, the players character is often required to accomplish basic quests like killing a local monster or tasks like building a home, in order to gain experience. Gaining experience often entitles a players character to develop skills as well as obtain weapons, potions, tools and an assortment of other equipment and rank as dictated by the type of game. Often, players are requiredTo finish quests or tasks in a sequential or chronological order in order to get to the next quest. The end of each quest or task usually ends with a reward that is either auto-generated by the game algorithm or a series of sliders that grant you to optimize your hero or character manually.

Online Role Playing Games is a genre of video games that can have many game types. The original type of Online Role Playing Games were Dungeons and Dragons and other medieval type of role playing games. Butthere are lots of different forms of role playing games that include Alien World, War Strategy, Anime and so on.

The playing mechanisms of onlinerole games are often made in virtual world using your Internet browser. This may be performed individually (single-player game) or Groups of friends or team Mates (multiplayer). Aside from Online Role playing games, Computer role playing games offer almost identical features of the onlinerole playing games and can include an Internet based environment or a player Vs Computer playing environment.

The Avatar

Online games can be highly customized through what’s called an Avatar. Avatars are character customizations as chosen by the player, and can often include one’s own artwork.

World Setting

World settings are only limited by the imagination of the game designer, but often, historical or literature based relationships are created. For example, J.R.R Tolkien’s Lord of the Ring Trilogy has been borrowed from extensively due to its content rich environments, characters, historical and military content.

Playing

Team members or groups of characters (usually called Party) join forcesTo finish their mission (usually called “search”). These tasks include several adventures along the way. Some challenges relate to fighting an evil monster, rescuing a princess or battling an entire fleet. Still other task include Fetching an item, solving puzzles (such as opening closed doors, a crank or a hidden key), in order to proceed to the next level or challenge. Communication is done via a chat box that allow players to interact in real time. Often, Role Playing Games don’t require real time chat in order for tasks to be completed.

Finding Online Role Playing games is really easy, but be warned that there are some sites that require you to pay a monthly fee to play. Paying a monthly fee is not something that’s necessary and can quite often lower the number of players who areon the weband therefore the game experience. There are many more free Online Role Playing games that’ll keep you busy for years to come.

When I speak about bad video games, I’m not speaking about ‘Bad’ as in ‘Good’, nor am I talking about games that have bad things in it, but may be very well designed and playable. No, I’m speaking about good ole fashion ‘Bad’ as in ‘Sucks’, ‘Crap’. Why talk about bad video games, you ask? or for that matter, what is the point of speaking at all about crappy video games, why not just ignore them and hope they go away?

Bad video games have and will always exist, for a number of reasons. First, there is no such thing as a common principle or idealistic concept that everyone can agree on, and that basically means that what is a poor video game to one person may be another person’s ideal and favorite thing, ever. That said, there are some basic principles that we can use to assess the strengths and weaknesses of video games.

But first, has this ever happened to you. You’re walking down the isle of a large box store and find yourself sucked into the video game and technology section of the store. Like a deer in the headlights, there is nothing worse than being in the wrong place under the wrong circumstances. Meaning, that if you’ve meandered over to the video game section with the intent of purchasing a well researched game, then you are in fact a true video gamer. On the other hand, if you’re like the other %90 of the population, you’ve probably drifted into the video game section for a number of reasons. Perhaps you’re purchasing a video game for your kids or yourself, or perhaps you have just got started into the crazy world of gaming and are looking for a game that you can sink your teeth into. If you’re the latter, the first thing that you need to know is that your are literally a walking dollar sign, ready and primed. Video game marketers have designed clever, and misleading packaging with you in mind. Their hope is that you’ll see how great their packaging looks, that you won’t probe deep enough into the actual contents of the game. As a proverbial ‘fish’, you buy that game based solely on the smartly designed packaging only to find out, when you get home, that you have been duped. That’s right, all that glitzy, flashy, snazzy packaging is nothing more than a mirage, hiding the sand that you thought was nourishing water. Don’t worry, everyone get’s duped, one time or another.

There is only one way to get back at those video game company’s that hide poor video game programming behind flashy packaging and that’s to take your video game back to the shop and demand a refund. You need to have your voice heard, for your sake and the sake of others who come after you, and moneyTalks more than words. Once a massive box store clues in to the fact that as a customer you’re both angry, and willing to take your business elsewhere, they will listen, especially if enough of us fight back.

Does that mean that bad video games will disappear? The answer is an absolute ‘NO’, but that doesn’t mean that you are fighting a losing battle, only that you will make it harder for shady video game company’s to dupe you and other’s who were too trusting in the package.

You’ve just decided that you want to become a video game expert expert, so how do youbegin your video game research?

Becoming a video game expert starts with familiarity with the games in question. It’s important that you’ve a good grasp of the types of games on the market Todayso that you can get a good understanding of what’s expected from a video game programmer. That means that you need solid knowledge of a wide array of game genres and gaming systems as a starting point, and yes, that means that you should be a gamer at heart. That’s not to state that you’re excluded from becoming an expert game programmer just because you aren’t a gamer, but let’s just state that it helps, a lot.

As you do research into the Video gaming industry, you will find that it is growing by leaps and bounds, and at this point in time, there is a shortage of professionals capable of designing the next huge game. That means that for those of you who have the patience, know-how and perseverance to make it as a game expert, you’ll be handsomely rewarded. Part of being an expert is admitting that there is always more to learn and in the gaming industry. It’s important that you are open to new games and new game systems, so that you can be one step ahead on locking into new opportunities as they arise.

One of the ideal ways to research to become a game expert and hone your skills as a game programmer is to collaborate with others involved with video games. Going it alone in today’s gaming industry is virtually impossible, and therefore by networking and discussing your ideas with others, will help you learn faster and better. Networking gives you the wonderful opportunities to share or exchange ideas that will help you learn aTiny something new at the same time. Remember, these relationships that you build Todaywill be an immense benefit to you down the road as you seek employment in the game programing field.

The obvious next step in video game research is education, youtotallyneed to take courses game programming. If you are resourceful enough, you could probably set out by purchasing game programming manuals to get you started alone, but there will come a point where you’ll need the assistance of a instructor who will help you advance to the next level. Seek out and apprenticeship and find training programs that are offered in both your local area and the gaming industry as a whole. Enrolling inpersonal programming courses is also a great way to find other like minded people to network with.

Being a game expert isn’t easy, but for those who succeed, the rewards are great. It all comes down to your desire to succeed, and to be receptive to new ideas and challenges. If you think you have got what it takes to become a game expert, then do not hesitate,begin your research now.

Video games and Gaming systems have becomePriceycommodities since the day that Atari ruled the gaming world. The Gaming powerhousesThis day include X-Box, PlayStation 3 and Wii, and the least Expensiveof the 3, Nintendo Wii, will cost you $200 and I’m not including the dozens of game accessories that you can purchase. For parents on a budget, purchasing a Gaming System is off-putting. Let’s fact it, during this recession, many parents don’t want to spend their money on entertainment.

For parents with teens, you will no doubt have a heck of a time telling your children that they won’t get a Gaming System this year, but fortunately, you can set aside that bad news. The cost of buying quality computeror video games does not have to be expensive. In fact, you can save a lot of money if you know where and how to look for your teens gaming system.

The most obvious choice when deciding to purchase a gaming system is to ‘buy used’, meaning that you are still purchasing the gaming system that your children want, the only difference is that it will have been used. Some company’s call these resale systems, Refurbished, and you can often find a refurbished box at many gaming stores. Often, refurbished gaming systems are bran new, and were most likely used a couple of times, if at all, and then returned to the store. Alternatively, you can also pick up some great deals on gaming systems on eBay, but be warned, buy only from reputable sellers, and ask about shipping insurance. There’s nothing more frustrating than receiving a gaming system that is either broken, or missing accessories. An substitute to purchasing on eBay is to purchase at a game reseller, these game resellers are usually located in strip malls and basically buy games and systems from a seller (Who are often just people like you or me looking for quick case), and mark-up the price to make a profit. The great thing about these shops is that you know the condition of the product before purchase.

Another substitute to paying large bucks for a gaming system, is to buy an older gaming system instead. This may not go over well with your teens, but for the younger kids, a PlayStation 2 or Super-Nintendo will do just fine. You can usually purchase these for amazingly low prices, but unfortunately, you may have trouble finding Super Nintendo gaming systems new, you may need to visit a gaming reseller, but PlayStation 2 are still available and worth every penny. Let’s face it, unless you are a millionaire, none of us can afford to purchase the latest toy on the market, just purchase the children an older system and they will be just as entertained with it as with the latest gaming system.

Another substitute to gaming systems, and one that many people have turned to is to use yourpersonal to play games. Please note that not just anypersonal will do, and you need a fairly good Gaming Graphics Card to make PC Gaming worthwhile. The good news about PC gaming is that you can often play game demos, meaning that you can try the game first and if you do not like it, you don’t lose any money. There are also many free games on the Internet that you can play, but be warned that your game is not pirated. When it comes to computergaming, you could also come outsuperior by upgrading games rather then an entire computer. It can take anywhere from a year or more for a gaming company to release a new version and chances are, the upgrade doesn’t require new hardware – it just requires a new payment. For PC gaming, make sure that you have a good audio card and joystick as well because playing on the keyboard is not as fun as playing with a controller. Shop wisely and you can catch a new soundcard, joystick, or graphics card on sale, and don’t often cost very much.

That is it in a nutshell, Video Gaming can be inexpensive if you know how to go about it. In fact, the cost of buying video games is negligible whenyou take into account the hours of enjoyment your kids will get from it.

This Post is about Game emulators and for those of you who have not heard, game emulators are pretty cool. But first, If you’re anything like me, you still love all of the classic arcade video games like Donkey Kong, PacMan and more recently, Super Mario. I play these games because they are fun, challenging and they also bring me back to a time when video games were a social past-time, a time where the arcade was a place to hang with friends. The problem for some is that, unless you have got an old Atari or Genesis Video game console hanging around, or if you are luck enough to own a arcade version of one of these games, then playing these games isn’t always accessible, but that’s where game emulation engines come in

Before we get into game emulation, it’s important to realize that most if not all of the classic video games are available onlineat many of the game websites that litter the Internet, so the game emulation engines are really not that vital anymore, but they are still useful. Primarily, many of the games available at these onlinegame sites have been converted to little screens that makes it virtually impossible to enjoy, and that’s where game emulators come in.

Emulators let you play your favorite classic games including games made for Atari, Commodore, and Nintendo just to name a few. Emulation refers to the ability of a program or device to imitate another program or device. Basically, software written for one type of hardware can bee fooled into working under hardware that it was not designed for, using emulation.

Often, you can download emulators from the Internet for free. Whether you are looking for Amiga, Commodore, Atari or Super Nintendo emulators, you usually download the games called (ROMs) to play as well.

Emulators often come with extensive help files and walk you through the process of setting up a copy on your own PC. But you often need, at the very least, a 486 processor or higher, at least 14 MB of RAM, a VGA card, and a Sound Blaster or 100% compatible sound card, which means that anybody can easily buy an old PC and turn it into a gaming console, easily.

There are literally thousands of games that you can download, but be aware that downloading these games may be illegal where you live, so please understand the consequences before you delve into game emulators. Often, laws stipulate that you must own the game on a cartridge in order to download these games, but do not let this give you a false hope, becuase more often than not, downloading any game that you have not paid for may be illegal, be educated andThink about yourself forwarned. But for those of you who use game emulators, I’m sure you’re having a lot of fun with your games right about now.

The following is an opinion, it is important that you seek professional help if you feel that your teenager is addicted to video games.

Teenage video game addiction is a serious problem in today’s society. More so than at any other time in the past, teenagers addiction to video games have resulted in a complete withdrawal from their family’s, friends and society in general.

Teenagers are substituting their real world friends for their newon the webfriends, and slowly drifting away from reality. This is a concern that should be treated as seriously as alcohol or gambling addiction, since it the long term negative effects on the teens and teens family lives are of a severe magnitude. Teens who reject other interests in their lives in favor of video gaming to the point complete withdrawal from family and friends can have consequences far beyond isolation. Video game addiction can be resolved, if it addressed early on, but there are steps that need to be taken to cut the vicious cycle of video game addiction early on.

Unfortunately, recognizing teenager’s video game addiction isn’t an easy task. The problem occurs in distinguishing between healthy video gaming as opposed to excessive playing of video games. But first, it is important to know that, often, video game addiction will oftenbegin as a simple interest in video games and then transcends from that point to an addiction. Realizing that there’s an addiction is unfortunately a very difficult one, due to the expected denial of addiction from the teenager. In essence, a teenager will do his or her ideal to convince you that they are not addicted to playing video games. The first step to recognizing video game addiction can often be noticed when a teenager begins to exhibit behaviors outside of his or normal routine. For example, if your teen is now staying up later and sleeping in later, missing school, dropping grades, ignoring phone calls from friends and other negative directions that are unusualfor the teenager.

It comes down to your interest in your teens life, and if you notice that your teenager’s school grades degrading, or when you notice that they are no longer communicating with their friends or with you, you need to step in and address the issue with your teen. Remember, video game addiction is no different than a gambling addiction or any other type of addiction, teenagers will lie and deceive you and fight you if they feel that you’re imposing on their game time.

Like other addictions, video game addictions often arise with behavioral changes like a teenager’s lack of patience, being swift to anger, or over-react to mundane situations.

Are there solutions to your child’s video game addiction? The answer is always yest, but it’s important that you realize it early on, before it gets out of control, and that’s why it’s important that you restrict video game access by involving your child on external activities like music, sports etc. Unfortunately, if the issue gets out of control, you often need to involve external help, whether it be with Psychologists, mentors etc.

In essence, it is important that you stop video game addiction early, but if you’re in a bind and your teenager is beyond your control, do not hesitate to seek external assistance to his or her video game addictions.

What makes a game fun to play? Why are some games universally accepted and loved by millions, like World Of Warcraft, while other games slip into the abyss of forgotten games? As you know, video games are large big business, and billions of dollars are made annually selling and reselling video games, marketing video games and creating video games. Often, Video game developers risk their future on games, and therefore need their games to be a hit and help the company become prosperous, or go into bankruptcy.

One of the reasons some games do not ever make it has more to do with the programmers than you would suspect. Often, video game company’s, in their attempt to capitalize on a new trend or fad, will virtually auto-generate a video game with no regard for playability, Rhyme or Reason. Many games are released onto the market, often what appears to be untested and unplayable. Many of these games are rehashed story-lines with different characters and often poor programming leaves the consumer in the cold.

But we can’t blame the video game programmer for all that’s wrong with a video game, because there is much more to a video game than the engine, there are graphics and story-boards that need to be created, and if the story is uninteresting, the ideal video game programmer in the world will not be able to save it. So what makes a video game interesting?
First, let’s break down what most video games have in common. There is often a main character that you choosefrom the main menu who will be your eyes in the adventure. The main character needs to be an extension of the player, so in essence, the player mus be in control of the character at all times, there’s nothing worse than a character that does it’s own thing regardless the player’s wishes. That means that game play should never be random, but the result of a properly programmed game controls that gives the player a sense of full control.

Secondly, a game needs to be easy to start, immediately. There is nothing worse than having to study an elaborate 1000 page manual in order to get started, especially in today’s society where most kids do not read books. The game needs to be easy to learn and play right out of the package, and that means the programmer needs to put the needs of the player above his or her own desire for greatness.

Third, a game needs to be easy to navigate, you don’t want to offer too many choices early on in a game if ever and that means that there needs to be an easily followed story that compels a player early on. You don’t have to program for a preschooler but do not forget that people are playing games as entertainment, and overly complex and hard to follow games are usually tossed in the trash.

Fourth, you need action, action and more action. In fact, the more action in a game the more interested players will be. But that doesn’t mean that you want repetitive and brainless action that leaves players wondering what the hell video game company was smoking when they designed the game. A good video game needs action that fits within the story, that is, action that makes sense. The more action in a video game, the more a player needs to be involved and therefore the more appealing it will be.

Fifth, plenty of eye candy. Video game enthusiasts will not settle for grainy ill conceived graphics, we anticipate much more refined and smartly designed characters and landscapes. That doesn’t mean that the graphics should be a distraction in the game, on the contrary, the graphics need to be seamless, and enticing. The betterthe graphics the more avid video game players will be enticed to replay a game, and that means they’ll be more inclined to buy the sequel.

Sixth, make the game feel real. people need to feel a connection to the characters they’re playing and a character who has no ‘soul’ can destroy the essence of the game. Although this is without doubt the hardest thing for a video game developer to accomplish, adding life to a video game will turn a good game into a great game that’ll be respected by all levels of video gamers.

There are many other small factors that’ll make a video game either enjoyable or not, but the above mentioned are the biggest reason for the success or failure of a video game. That said, it is not always possible to gauge the success of a video game on the above alone, because as often happens, there will always be a game thattotally contradicts all logic and becomes successful, but then again, those games are one in a million and therefore not worth investing the future of your video game company on.

Shopping for video games And Consoles can be very difficult with all the game choices available. Video game marketers are making the video game shopping even more difficult with all the attractive and slick video game box designs. The video game industry is astonishing competitive, so it’s no wonder that video game manufacturers are constantly trying to outdo each other at every level.

Visit any video game store and you are bound to get overwhelmed by the thousands of game choices available. In this post I hope to assist you in purchasing the ideal video game with the least amount of effort and stress.

First, you need to familiarize yourself with the different gaming consoles. The following is a list of the most popular game consoles on the market today. Learn as much as you can about these consoles and research them to get the best idea of which consoles are most appropriate for you.

PS3 = Playstation 3 System

XBOX 360 = Microsoft’s XBOX 360 System

PC = Personal Computer

Wii = Nintendo’s Wii System

EA Sports = Entertainment Arts System

PS2 = Playstation 2 System

PSP = Playstation Portable System

DS = Nintendo’s DS System

Second, before setting foot in a video game store, the first thing you need to do is to research the tpe of game genre you’re interested in. There is plenty of information out there waiting to be explored, so its imperative that you check every resource from online game sites to video game magazines. Possibly the easiest way to get information is to visit a video game website. Game sites are incredibly popular and are a great resource to finding all the latest games, trends and reviews. Often, the information is so extensive and well researched that you’ll have th tools needed to head to the video game store. Best of all, you can often purchase games online, thus avoiding the store altogether.

Third, once you have found the game console and game that you want, make sure that you know the rating system for games. This is important if you are shopping for a Christmas or birthday gift for your child. The Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) gives each game a rating in an effort to inform parents what their kids are playing. Here’s a handy reference to what the ratings mean:

C = Appropriate for Early childhood
E = Appropriate for Everyone
E 10+ = Appropriate for Everyone aged 10 and older
T = Appropriate for Teens
M = Appropriate for Mature Adults

The above rating system is important because it will help you screen out potentially harmful material, some games are incredibly violent andtotallynot suitable for kids. For example, if you see an illustration of fighting warriors, chances are the game will contain violence, where as games with children’s movie or book illustrations is a good indication that a game will be appropriate for a child.

If you follow the above steps, shopping for Video Games and Consoles will be easy, and you’ll often get just what you’re looking for. Remember, it’s all about research, and if you do it right, you’ll find the right video game and console that will be perfect for you and your family.

The Internet has brought us some wonderful entertainment and online games for kids is one of them. Online games grant parents to have the children entertained while while they cook, clean and do all the things that parents do. But the onlineworld can also be a perilous one, and child supervision should be of the utmost importance to the parent, that often, parents are left wondering whether safeon the web games are a fact or myth.

It only takes a couple of clicks of the mouse for a child to stray from a child safeon the webplay environment to a potentially harmful one. As mentioned before,on the internet games for kids have come a long way and child safety has been a priority many websites like treehousetv.com and Nickjr.com just to name a couple. Sites such as these have made the kids the first priority, and the quality of games are of very high standards, if just a bit commercialized. A website needs to take a number of issues into consideration when offering kids online games, including entertainment, education, safety and kid friendly.

For young children, it issuggested that sites like the ones listed above be the only source ofon the webentertainment. But for older kids, those sites won’t suffice, children get bored easily. There are many onlinegame sites that claim to offer a safe inter-active community basedon the webgaming environment, but one needs to be careful when assuming the safety of anon the webgaming environment. For starters, there’s no such thing as a safe interactiveon the webgame environment, period, regardless of the safety restrictions anon the internet gaming community claims to adhere to or how safe their servers are. The point is, most of theseon the webgaming communities all have one major flaw that makes them inherently unsafe, and that’s the real-time chat programs that players and their characters can interact with other players and characters. The online chat, often makeson the internet gaming much more fun, but it is often done so at the expense of safety. There is no way for you children to know who they’re really speaking to, so it is advisable that unless you’re planning to monitor your child’son the internet game time frombegin to finish, that you find substitute online games that offer real-time chat.

Safeon the webgames for kids can be achieved, but it often requires your full attention as a parent, and unless you are willing to dedicate hours of your time, overseeing your child’son the webgaming, you are best restricting theiron the internet gaming time to non-interactive websites that are designed with a zero community interactivity in mind, this may not be the best of fun for your kids, but in this way they’ll be kept safe online.

Online games have gained much popularity over the last 10 years, primarily due to the introduction of high-speed Internet. Without a faster Internet connection,on the webgames as we know it would be much much different. But there’s another reason why onlinegames have flourished and that’s the ever increasing demand for newer and bettergames.

People love video Games because they make us feel good, it helps us forget about our mundane life and helps waste a boring day. Video games also help relieve stress, in essence, when we aren’t thinking about our troubles the daily stress is also forgotten. Online games are muchsuperior at help fight stress than listening to music, for example. The reason being that Games force us to focus our conscious attention on the task at hand, while listening to music is for the most part, a passive activity.

There is a fine line between stress reduction and stress enhancement. Often, people who are heavily addicted to online gaming tend to become even more stressed that they normally are in their life outside of the game. This is more obvious inon the internet games that require precise timing and planning, or team work, and the level of stress can escalate dramatically. It is not unusual for kids and adults to throw a game controller across the room or yell profusely, some have been know to wreck their computersor game boxes. The point is, games can be a definite stress reducer if used intelligently, but taken too seriously, video games can do the exact opposite and bring extreme levels of stress into our lives. The choice remains with you, are you willing to let a game ruin your health, or will you take control of the situation at hand and know when enough i’s enough?
