The very first video games system that appeared in the market was, , released in 1971 by Nutting Associates. It was created by Nolan Bushnell and Ted Dabney, the founders of Atari. This video game is the first coin-operated arcade video game and is considered to be the beginning of the evolution of video games.

The next company to release a video game system is Magnavox in 1972. The company named it Odyssey 100 video game. Unlike the Computer Space arcade video game, the Odyssey 100 video game system was the first video game console that could be attached to a standard television. This feature allowed everyone to play video games right at the comforts of their own home. Because of this feature, nearly 100,000 units of the system were sold for 100 dollars each.

The Playstation 3 is famous for its high standards in 3D graphics and involved game playing and re-playability.

Video Game Consoles have come a long way and the level of sophistication has improved exponentially since the early days when dots and lines were the apex of video gaming.
Do you remember the Atari Gaming System? Many of you gamers today, may not, for that matter, you may not care, but it’s worth taking note, because the Atari was one of the Original gaming platforms that effectively brought the arcade into your home.

Launched in 1977 , the Atari game system is one of the most popular and ideal selling gaming systems ever. Although by today’s comparison, the Atari’s graphics are very easy and crude, at the time of its inception, it was well ahead of its time. The Atari Video Computer System or VCS created a new way to entertain you for many years.

It was inevitable, however, the Atari was not able to evolve its technology and gradually a decline in demand in the video game market in general that by 1986, Atari gaming system had practically vanished from the U.S. marketplace.

That said, many of the games developed for the Atari like Pac-man, Asteroids, Missile Command, and other popular titles Atari produced were still widely available in the video game market are still quite famous, and in fact have found their way onto Internet gaming sites.

Today, Atari is now a game developer for PC games and other popular gaming consoles out in the market. They now develop games that can compete with the standards that people are searching for in a game. Popular Atari game titles, such as , Test Drive Unlimited, Age of Pirates and others are now available for PC, Xbox, PlayStation 2 and others. Atari games are also available in different genres, including Role Playing Games (RPG), strategy games, action games, first person shooter games, driving games, simulation games,on the internet games, fighting games and they also develop games for kids.

Atari, today, no longer makes gaming consoles, instead they’ve concentrated on the video game market. For many, though, especially those of you who were around when the Atari game console was first released, you’ll undoubtedly look back with fondness. The Atari gaming system will live in people’s hearts for being one of the first gaming systems they have owned.
